The Evolving Story of WomanWell...

WomanWell surprised us all. For twenty-five years the building, former convent of the Carondelet Sisters, was flooded with the stories of women in transition. Catholic nuns in the throes of mid-life crises, spirited women resting and reaching for strong wings to take them into the second half of life. Religious women from as far away as Africa and Asia, as near as around the corner, sought this refuge in order to be renewed and to invite the Spirit more deeply into their lives.

Along the path of its years the ground shifted and something new started bubbling up. The original purpose was much too narrow and confining as dynamic energy began to gust through the corridors. All the healing that took place, all the fresh starts and the strengthening of the spirit not withstanding, a surge of new life sprouted up. WomanWell, not just for women religious, not just for mid-lifers, not simply framed as renewal and integration, but framed and focused on the deepest spiritual hungers.

WomanWell for spiritual guidance. Beset by irresolvable dilemmas, the polarization and the problems that beset this new millennium, we search at the Source of life. For the sake of the human family and for all creation we put aside what is trivial and self-serving to approach a place where meaning is revealed. WomanWell is a place of living water. It loosens up, it springs up around us and cracks us open. We come wet and trembling, palpitating, alive as never before. We seek truth and a path that connects us with spirit.

At WomanWell you will find the spiritual guides who will walk with you, in the accompaniment of mentors who will be there for you. You will begin to draw strength and wisdom from your own deep well.

Is WomanWell a real place? Indeed. We thought it was a dream. For years we were talking about it. But as we talked about a new vision pieces began to come together- like the picture that found its way to our address and was hung along the corridor. Then in what seems now the blink of an eye, another and another and another piece was added. Until one morning we woke up amazed at what had transpired. Over a few months and years something mystical and whole, a gallery of color, was being designed. Now the story of the universe sweeps across the walls of our meeting room. At some point, the portraits of significant women who led the way for all of us entered with a flourish and now stand sentinel in rooms where we sleep, communing in hushed voices while we dream. Turning around we catch the sound, the new song that rippled off the walls, we see music in tapestries and paintings, motifs that invited us to step more joyfully forward. Rooms that we had seen a million times transformed as the new vision has come to be.

Draw near to this living well, WomanWell, locus of deep healing for soul and body. Such healing wells up from even the most stony, barren land, from places hardened from the wounds and welts of life. This vibrant spring flows from spiritual guides to all who seek spirituality in challenging times, for those who are ready now to find answers in their own deep well.
