This Spiritual Guidance Program is now approved by the Minnesota Board of Social Work for 30 hours Continuing Education. This approval is good for one year, July 6, 2010 to July 6, 2011.
"This was a great program. I grew and was challenged in many ways. I needed to work on my own fears and self-imposed limitations in order to continue moving forward. I would highly recommend this program to anyone."

Content Overview - Year One
In Year One the program focuses on the New Universe Story or the Cosmic Story and views our own individual and community stories in that context. We learn about our interdependent connections with all of creation and its Creator especially through the lens of the three major characteristics of the universe: Differentiation, Interiority and Communion. We know that listening deeply to our client’s story is essential in spiritual direction and leadership so we model and discuss key principles and skills. We make useful distinctions between therapy, coaching and spiritual guidance. In keeping with the seasonal cycles of the planet and the liturgical cycles of the Christian tradition we explore the progressive themes of generative chaos, emergence, creative mystery and love. Our retreat in the spring allows us to gather together the threads of our story and reflect on how we live deeply with ourselves and with all beings. Process Overview:
Each weekend as we gather in circle we make time for personal check-in, centering prayer, theological reflection and discussion, presentations related to the theme, artistic and creative expression and ritual prayer. Midway through year one we also add “practicum groups” for the opportunity to actually practice principles and skills necessary for spiritual direction and leadership. In addition, assigned reading is required between most monthly workshops.
"Most helpful and valuable was feeling a sense of belonging to the group (and coming out of the universe). I felt like who I was was celebrated."

"This experience is life-changing. I see my own progression and growth with the universe story and living in the now. The diversity of the staff and how they balance one another's presentation styles enriched the learning. Really, there are no words to describe my gratitude. I will forever remember this experience."
Year Two In Year Two the program focuses specifically on topics which address the director and directee relationship and how the director may more fully understand and guide their client. We look at several psychology and typology models as well as various frameworks and approaches that can be helpful in this work. In addition we continue the connections to the learning of Year One and reinforce the necessary integration of each person’s cosmic, planetary, community and individual circles. We are both mystics and prophets as well as citizens of the universe and as such have responsibility for going both within and reaching out. Process Overview: As in Year One we gather in circle, we make time for personal check-in, centering prayer, theological reflection and discussion, presentations related to the theme, artistic and creative expression and ritual prayer. Our practicum groups become supervisory groups where directors have the opportunity to discuss issues that arise from their internship clients and to receive appropriate guidance. Again, assigned reading is required between most monthly workshops.
