Complementary Therapies | Energy Healing Programs

Energy Healing is a form of complementary medicine that uses natural energy fields to promote health and well being. It encompasses a variety of practices such as contemplative healing touch, acupuncture, and esoteric healing .

The goal of individuals who practice energy healing is to help clear, balance and stimulate the human energy system thereby promoting healing of the mind, body and spirit. When the body’s energy system is in balance, it produces “wholeness” – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Resonance with the different forms varies from person to person.

LABYRINTH

A Labyrinth is an ancient imprint which recaptures the feminine sense of the source of the Divine. The single winding sacred path of a labyrinth leads one into the center and out again, inviting entry into one’s own sacred center. It provides a space that allows clarity to significant life questions. The labyrinth invites our intuitive, pattern- seeking, symbolic mind to come forth, rather than our literal thinking mind. To enter a labyrinth is to choose to walk a spiritual path.

Marilyn Larson has created a three circuit portable labyrinth for WomanWell. You are invited to walk this sacred path Tuesday through Thursday, 9 AM - 4 PM. Please telephone 651-739-7953 to determine availability.

Contemplative Healing Touch

“Like billowing clouds, like the incessant gurgle of the brook, the longing of the soul (consciousness) can never be stilled.” -Hildegard of Bingen

Contemplative healing touch -‘The Light Touch’ will assist you in aligning your energy on many levels to achieve balance from the inside out. By learning the function of the seven body-spirit energy vortex called chakras, practicing meditations and techniques for working with your energy flow, visualization and spiritual exercises, you can bring your energies into balance. Relaxation, greater focus, dissolving energy blocks, gaining confidence, sustaining balance, releasing old belief systems or emotions, and achieving clarity are possible benefits of Contemplative Healing Touch.

You may think that difficult situations and emotions you experience are caused by other people or random events. Contemplative Healing Touch work will convince you that inner imbalance is not caused by situations in the outer world – instead your imbalances create the situations that interfere with your sense of well being and peace.

Please consider that both truth and communication begin with a simple gesture: TOUCH, the authentic voice of feeling. The loving that cannot be spoken – nothing need be said, for everything is understood.

Linda L. Lintgen, Contemplative Healing Touch Practitioner says “ Tactile interaction-touching-has deep impact on all facets of human development. The Mother and Father of one’s well being - Contemplative Healing Touch massage, which I call ‘The Light Touch’ because its source is Universal Energy…has called me ‘in’ as a practitioner from my prior profession of educator.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture is now offered at WomanWell every Friday by Mary Borer.  Mary is a board certified practitioners licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

We believe passionately that everyone should be able to afford and receive acupuncture and this is why we offer community acupuncture, which offers treatments at affordable prices using a sliding scale of $15-35 with an additional $10 fee for the initial assessment.   Community Acupuncture allows an individual to receive more then one treatment per week enabling them to experience a more rapid return to proper function and health.

Acupuncture is one of the key components of the system of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).   TCM views the body as a delicate balance of two opposing and inseparable forces: yin and yang.

Yin represents the cold, slow, or passive principle, while yang represents the hot, excited, or active principle.  A foundational principle in TCM is that "health" is achieved by maintaining an internal balance of Yin and Yang, while "disease" is due to an internal imbalance.  Such an inbalance may lead to blockage in the flow of qi (vital energy) along certain pathways in the body (known as meridians), causing pain, fatigue, emotional highs and lows, and various other physical, mental and emotional symptoms.

Acupuncture and TCM are recognized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) as effective in treating some of the following conditions:

Addictions                                        Emotional Problems
Allergies                                           Fibromyalgia
Carpal tunnel Syndrome                   Headache
Common Cold                                  Insomnia
Digestive Problems                          Pain
and many other conditions too numerous to list here.

Mary Borer's  beginning into health care started when she graduated from College of St. Catherine as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.  This created a life long interest in health and healing and led her to pursue Complementary Medicine for her own health and then as a career.  To pursue her interest in Complementary Medicine, Mary attended Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and graduated with a Masters of Acupuncture, December, 2000.

Mary works at Mastel's Health Foods Store as a Buyer and Sales Associate.  In her spare time Mary is a parent to two wonderful sons, loves to read, attend book club, enjoys walks, yoga and volunteers at Feline Rescue.

Mary Borer's hours are 10 Am to 4 PM every Friday.  Mary also schedules between 5:45 and 6:30 PM on Monday evenings.  Mary can be contacted at maryborer@hotmail.com
